About me Marjory

About me Marjory
18.03.2025 | By Marjory
My names are Marjory Chisanga Ndawo, and I’m half South African and half Zambian. I was raised in Zambia, but I spent half of my upbringing in Denmark, where I currently live my multicultural background has greatly shaped who I am Today.
I am an open person who always puts others before myself. It’s part of my nature to take care of people and ensure they understand their rights. I believe that everyone deserves to be heard and protected, which motivates me to pursue my studies in human rights law next year.
I want to make a difference in the world by helping those who feel powerless and fighting for justice. Studying human rights will give me the opportunity to positively impact society and ensure that everyone has access to the rights they deserve. I dream of being a voice for those who do not have one, and I am determined to use my knowledge and skills to create change.
This is not just a career path for me; it is a passion that drives me to make the world a better place for everyone. Now, I am studying to become a development instructor, and I am excited to share that I will be volunteering in Zambia for six months starting in early April.
During my time there, I will engage in various activities with the youth, helping them learn new skills while also learning from them. My goal is to empower them by providing guidance on how they can progress in their endeavors and achieve their aspirations.
I believe that this experience will not only allow me to contribute to their growth but also enrich my understanding of their unique challenges and strengths. I am truly looking forward to making a positive impact and fostering a collaborative environment where we can all learn and grow together.
In my free time, I mostly work online with different brands by creating social media posts for them and analyzing data to help promote their businesses. I also model for them, which adds an exciting aspect to my work. Additionally, I run a small business where I braid people’s hair, and I have plans to start an online shop and physical locations where clients can book appointments for braiding.
I also want to venture into the fashion industry with a clothing business. However, I’m currently focused on my existing commitments, so I plan to kick off these new projects next year while also making time to hang out with my family and friends. I have a lot of hobbies that keep me engaged and inspired. In short, I love learning new things and being creative.
Cooking is one of my favorite activities, as it allows me to experiment with different flavors and techniques. I also enjoy making videos on TikTok, where I can express my creativity and share my experiences with others. Whether it’s trying out new recipes or exploring different trends, I find joy in every aspect of these hobbies, and they keep my life exciting and fulfilling.
My favorite quotes that keep me motivated and inspired are, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are,” and “Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you become your reality.” These words remind me to make the most of my circumstances and to stay true to myself, regardless of what others may think.
A fun fact about me is that I really love my bed and my phone so much! And I love to clean every time I see my room looks unkept. 🤣 I am so grateful for my parents because they support me in pursuing my dreams, and my dad always keeps me going when I feel like giving up. I’m also thankful for my two supportive besties who are always there for me! I don’t really have a favorite song or musician; I just go with the vibe and if I’m vibing with the song, that’s what matters to me. I dream of visiting Japan soon because I’ve heard so much about it, and I want to experience it for myself, along with South Korea 🇰🇷. As for my daily routine, I wake up at 7, make my bed, have a shower, and then at 8, I enjoy breakfast 🥞 with everyone. By 8:45, I clean my responsibility area that is all and it is the same everyday.
But during the weekends I take care of my skin and talk to my friends and family members . Over the past years, I’ve celebrated many achievements with my parents, like when I graduated from nursing school. I studied to become a nurse assistant, passed my exams, and finally graduated, which was such a proud moment for me! .
My favorite food is chicken wings and fries, but I have to admit, I’m a picky eater, which makes things a bit tricky sometimes. I really dislike people who make me feel less of myself or talk behind my back instead of being honest with me. When I sense hatred, I tend to distance myself because I prefer to surround myself with love, not negativity. I appreciate people who are straightforward and communicate openly with my friends and me.
I’m a very welcoming person, but once you break my trust, it’s hard for me to trust you again. I’m volunteering at Lindersvold as a development instructor because I genuinely want to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Education and personal growth are incredibly important to me, and I believe that everyone has the potential to achieve great things with the right support and guidance.
By volunteering, I have the opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with others, helping them to develop their abilities and confidence. Being part of the Lindersvold community allows me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, each with their own unique experiences and stories.
I find it fulfilling to support their development, whether it’s through teaching new skills, providing encouragement, or simply being a listening ear. I also appreciate the chance to learn from them, as their insights and perspectives enrich my own understanding of the world.
Ultimately, my role as a development instructor allows me to contribute to an environment that values growth and learning. It’s a wonderful way to give back and create a space where people feel empowered to pursue their goals and dreams.
This experience not only helps others but also brings me joy and fulfillment, making it a truly rewarding endeavor. I have been working with humana people to people in Denmark, but I didn’t really understand the entire organization at first.
This volunteering experience has helped me gain a better understanding of UFF Denmark. Initially, I was just planning to work with my dad, who is part of TG, but he doesn’t have much time to explain everything to me since he is always busy with work.
This opportunity has really opened my eyes and allowed me to learn more about the organization and the community. I might be an influence on social media and be a content creator, but I struggle with social anxiety, which makes it really hard for me to communicate with people in real life.
That’s why I joined this program—to improve my speaking skills and learn how to believe in myself when I need to speak up. Thanks to my mom and dad for all the support they’ve shown me along the way, and to Else, the leader of UFF in Denmark, for believing in me and encouraging me to take part in this volunteering program.

What is Volunteer for Change
The Volunteer for Change programme is based on two concepts: Sustainable development and international solidarity.
The programme lasts ten months and is an opportunity to learn about the big issues of our time – and to do something about them in practical terms.
The Volunteer for Change programme provides an opportunity for people from the Global North to learn from, and volunteer with, community-driven development programmes in the Global South run by members of Humana People to People. These projects respond to challenges within the spheres of community development, education, sustainable farming, early childhood development and mitigation of the climate crisis.
The fast-paced and action-based Volunteer for Change programme takes ten months:
3 months of training and preparation in Denmark
6 months of assisting a sustainable development programme at a Humana People to people project in the Global South
1 month of reflection, evaluation, and sharing of experiences.
DRH Lindersvold – The Travelling School for Change – welcomes everyone who is interested in working together with us to address humanitarian and development challenges worldwide.
Let’s create a better world together.
