My team, consisting of Marta, Corinne, and me, decided to do three weeks of traveling and
presentations around Europe. Each of us scheduled some presentations in our respective hometown. We started with Trapani, Italy – the place Corinne spent a big part of her life. We were able to better understand her memories and past experience which also strengthened our relationship even more.
Next was Spain where Marta is from. It was great to meet my team’s friends and family whowere super friendly and welcoming. I managed to learn a lot more about them and their lives outside of the project which was a great experience.
From Spain (Barcelona) we started a car trip towards Portugal. This was where I spent 16 years of my life – it was Marta and Corinne’s turn to get to know me even better, meet the places I have spent a good time at, and meet the people who I shared a lot of my time with.
In total, we conducted 19 presentations and reached over 625 people of different ages. We shared PowerPoints, videos, pictures, and different materials from Zambia and Malawi
(f.x chitenge, plastic footballs, bracelets, etc.) – this could help us have more accurate discussions and show what we were talking about easily.
I believe the period was a success as we shared a lot of information and people were asking us many questions expressing interest in our programme and experience.
During our project, we managed to learn a lot. We had a cultural exchange where we learned about Malawi and Zambia and also shared bits of our own cultures. The end of the programme was appropriate as well. We shared our thoughts, lessons, and projects – this is very important for such an experience.
We could understand that we have grown a lot and learned the real meaning of sharing is
caring.
The last part of the programme consisted of one month of presentations about all the projects
developed in Malawi and Zambia. This is the time when you come to understand how
powerful of an experience you had on the project and how strong of a relationship you built with your team.
