From Italy to India: Francesca’s Journey of Growth, Giving & Global Adventure

Hi everyone! I’m Francesca, 25, from Italy – though I like to think of myself as a citizen of the world.

Curious, patient, and creative – with a dash of clumsiness (I like to call it “the Bella Swan in me”) – I don’t sleep much, but I run on excitement, curiosity, and countless espressos… though, between us, I secretly prefer tea!

I love writing stories and poetry, cooking for the people I care about, and dancing to keep my energy flowing.

I joined this program to see the good in the world, give back what I’ve received, learn about new cultures and traditions, and, of course, push myself to grow. Jumping headfirst out of my comfort zone has been scary, funny, and absolutely rewarding!

These first two months have been incredible. During the Building Weekend and the Food Production in Tvind for OL2025, I spent hours in the kitchen with my amazing August Team, helping organise meals for around 600 people.

It was challenging, but the music, laughter, and seeing everyone enjoy the food made it completely worth it. Every day with this Team feels like cooking a new recipe: messy, exciting, and full of flavour.

For the next few months, I’ll be one-third of the Trio heading to India for a Teaching project. I’m so excited about this adventure and especially can’t wait to work with my fellow adventurers. I’m sure we’ll create so many wonderful things together!

I feel like A and D are my older brother and sister: when stress hits, we turn the music up and, like Alex, Meredith, and Christina from Grey’s Anatomy, just dance it out.

I’m loving the moments we’re creating together with the Elephant Operators, the support from my Core Group, the daily inspiration I find around me, and the chance to collaborate with my Trio on exciting projects.

I’m counting the days for our trip to Madrid with my Core Group – to discover many new and beautiful things in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. I know we won’t have much time to play tourist, but just soaking in the atmosphere will be more than enough!

I’m ready to dive into more chaos, laughter, and unforgettable moments – and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
