More Than an Exam

An exam does not always have to mean sitting quietly with a paper and a pen.

For their first People’s Exam, the July Team had a different challenge: show what they had learnt and find a creative way to share it with others.

The topic was People and Politics.

Turning Learning Into Something You Can Share

Working in their core groups, the team prepared different ways to present the topics they had been studying.

Instead of simply repeating information, they had to think about what they had understood and how they could communicate it.

The presentations opened conversations around topics such as colonisation and the ways history continues to shape societies.

Questions and discussions gave everyone in the room a chance to take part.

Learning by Taking Part

Some ideas were explored through activities rather than presentations alone.

Participants took on different roles and worked through situations designed to make the topics easier to discuss and understand together.

A Team Effort

Preparing for the exam also meant working together.

Both teams put a lot of effort into their preparations and helped each other along the way.
The goal was not only to complete an exam, but to turn what they had learnt into something they could explain, question and share with others.

Because understanding something is one thing. Being able to share it with others is another.

And for the July Team’s first People’s Exam, that was an important part of the challenge.
