Social Pedagogy + Teaching & Learning

Zero division

PEDAGOGY FOR CHANGE is on of the programmes offered at DRH Lindersvold.

We are lucky to share our campus with the Day School which is a special school for children and youth with special educational and social needs. Thus, the Day School at Lindersvold provides an opportunity for participants in the Pedagogy for Change programme to experience working with highly specialised teaching and learning.

Specialised teaching and learning

In short, the Day School at Lindersvold can be characterised as activity-based and student-centred. The students at the school have special educational and social needs, which means that the teachers need to master two skills at the same time: social pedagogy in order to accommodate the needs of the students and teaching the compulsory national curriculum.

In the video below, Alex Benesch shares some important aspects of how teaching and learning take place in a highly specialised school like the Day School. Basically, all lessons need to be planned individually for each student, but even so, the teachers need to be adaptable and able to accommodate any needs, well-known or sudden, that their students might have or develop.

Spoiler alert: It is challenging and rewarding work.

What is Pedagogy for Change?

The Pedagogy for Change programme offers 12 months of training and experiencing the power of pedagogy – while you put your skills and solidarity into action.

Studies and hands-on training takes place in Denmark, where you will work with children and youth at specialised social education facilities or schools with a non-traditional approach to teaching and learning.

In short:
• 10 months’ studies and hands-on training in Denmark, working with children and youth at specialised social education facilities or schools. At the same time yo will study the world of pedagogy with your team – a group of like-minded people. You will meet up for study days every month.

• 2 months of exploring the reality of communities in Scandinavia / Europe, depending on what is possible – pandemic conditions permitting. You will travel by bike, bus or perhaps on foot or sailing.
