Turning Waste into Celebration

Most people would look at an empty plastic bag and see rubbish.

The July Team saw something else.

As Cultural Evening approached, the volunteers gathered around a table covered with plastic packaging, cardboard boxes, scissors and tape.

Nothing about it looked particularly exciting.

Yet over the next few hours, those ordinary materials would slowly become part of a celebration.

Every Great Idea Starts Small

No one arrived with a finished design.

Someone began cutting colourful plastic bags into long strips. Someone else wondered if they could weave them together.

Another volunteer found a cardboard box that could become a frame.

Little by little, ideas spread across the room.

Soon everyone was experimenting, helping each other and discovering what worked.

It wasn't about making perfect decorations. It was about creating something together.

Seeing Possibilities

One of the things volunteers quickly discover at Lindersvold is that creativity often grows from simple ideas.

Instead of buying new decorations, the team looked around and asked a simple question:

What can we create with what we already have?

Plastic bags became colourful ribbons.
Cardboard became a sturdy frame.

Materials that would normally end up in the bin found a second purpose.

The finished decorations weren't valuable because of what they were made from.

They were valuable because everyone had left their mark on them.

A Celebration Built Together

When Cultural Evening finally arrived, the decorations added colour to the room.

But perhaps their greatest value couldn't be seen at all.

Every woven strip, every recycled material and every handmade detail carried a small reminder of the afternoon that brought the July Team together.

Sometimes the most meaningful things aren't the ones we buy. They're the ones we create together.
